Hello, and welcome to my little corner of the internet. This site is still under development so please forgive any unfinished portions. My name is Caroline Woodiel. I have a BA in History from the University of Colorado and an MLIS from the University of Arizona. I am currently the Head Librarian and Archivist of the McClelland Library in Phoenix. I work primarily as a librarian, but also in the capacity of an archivist when time permits.I stumbled into the idea of becoming a librarian/archivist while researching a way to record oral histories more efficiently and provide access through an online platform. With the intense growth of social media and the increased frequency in which we communicate online, the chances to tell our stories and share our anecdotes are shrinking. In a nutshell, I wanted to take students learning about a time in history, say WWII, and connect them with the voices of the soldiers who were there. The potential for learning when a student finds a personal connection is exponential. I did, and still, want to make this dream a reality. As the Head Librarian and Archivist of the McClelland Library, I get to do more things I love than I could have ever imagined. As a newer institution, I work in all areas of the Information Profession. I may teach a high school student about history and finding resources one day, handle rare materials the next, process an archival collection, research and write for a historical exhibit, and end my week working on a grant or upcoming library programming. From IT to reference questions, my experience in this small special library has been invaluable.This website is designed to act as a digital Curriculum Vitae and portfolio of my professional work.
